Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve gathered the answers to some popular questions below.
If you can’t find your question below feel free to contact us, and we’ll be happy to help.
Where are my photos?
We try to upload all photos within a week from the end of an event. Look on our gallery page.
Will you be at my event?
Maybe! We have some of our future events on our gallery page.
If you don’t see your event there, send us an email with the details and we will contact your event organizer.
Do you offer private sessions?
We do!
For an hour we charge $125. You will get 15 edited digital downloads with the option to purchase more.
What equipment do you use?
I shoot with a Canon R6 mark ii, and usually a 70-200 2.8 lens for indoor sports.
Other equipment is a fast computer, a photo editor, a couple external hard drives, quick internet connection, and a large amount of patience.
How do I tag you in my social media post?
@relaxed_canine
How long does editing take?
Forever.
In one day I can shoot ~4-6k photos. Transfering from the card to computer is an hour; rough processing is ~60min ; straightening, cropping, and color correcting are ~4-5 hours, de-noise is ~1min/photo; uploading is another 30 seconds for each photo.
So 4,000 free photos take a maximum of 35 hours and 4,000 paid photos take a minimum of 41 hours.
Studio portraits and private sessions take longer per photo because more care and editing goes into each one (I spent two hours in photoshop getting dust off my dog).
Can I take photos like you?
Of course! Photography is very technical but there are lots of tutorials and classes out there. With dog sports, the hardest part is going to be tracking the dog while keeping his eyeballs in focus. Start with your own dogs playing in the backyard!
Why aren’t all your photos free?
While we strive for affordable, quality photos, we spend a lot of time taking, editing, and uploading images.
We currently use Shootproof as a way for people to buy prints, digital downloads, and other fun items.
How do you edit your photos?
All of our galleries go through a rough cull, which takes out anything with less than half a dog, and anything out of focus. From there, free photos are exported as a jpg with a watermark and uploaded. Photos going into shootproof are straightened, cropped, color corrected, and sometimes de-noised.
Why are my pictures blurry?
Lighting conditions, speed of the dog, camera settings, obstacles, directional changes, color of the dog, color of the floor/sky/walls/your shirt/dog collar and probably 20 more things all effect photo quality. I try my best.
How do I purchase my photos?
Our edited photos are available through Shootproof and start at $12 for a high-quality digital download, there are bundle options and we often have discount codes.
Why do the indoor photos look so much different than the outdoor ones?
Photos taken indoors are relying on the lighting in the building. To get visible photos, the ISO (or how sensitive the sensor is to light) is increased, which makes the camera have to process a low quality light, resulting in ‘noisy’ images. Outdoors, there is more light (the sun) and the ISO will be very low even with a high shutter speed. So the light coming into the camera is a higher quality light and the sensors have more data to work with leading to less noise.

Is there a way to make images less noisy?
Yes! Adobe Lightroom uses denoise, which is really just an AI program that you can learn about here. We don’t denoise on all our images since it takes ~90 seconds on each image, which is fine for a few, but not all 6,000 I might take in a trial day.
